How to Join

Snail Race Car When you join the Slow Food Movement, you become a member of the largest not-for-profit, educational food organization in the world! Slow Food International is headquartered in Bra, Italy, and is comprised of more than 70,000 members in 45-50 countries around the world.

A local chapter of Slow Food is called a Convivium. There are around 150 convivia in the United States. The Kansas City Convivium was founded in October 2002. We enjoy getting together for hand-prepared feasts of local foods from local producers. Events also include educational as well as pleasurable aspects of food. As a recently formed convivium, we are looking forward to establishing a Slow Garden in local schools. More information on this project or volunteer see the Contact Us page. We strongly support local farmers. For example, we include our local farmers in many of the local events that can be seen in the upcoming calendar of events.
