Kimberly Winter Stern, Slow Food Kansas City Director of Public Relations
Slow Food Kansas City is pleased to welcome Kimberly Winter Stern to the Board as Director of Public Relations. She will work in tandem with fellow Board members Liz Handlen and Gay Jones to maximize communications of Slow Food Kansas City’s events and other information.
As one of KC’s most well-known award-winning food, travel, lifestyle and healthcare writers, Winter Stern’s repertoire is diverse and her warm, engaging and connective style grabs the reader. Her work has regularly appeared in local, regional and national publications, including cover stories and features for The Kansas City Star; Better Homes and Gardens and national travel guides. She cohosts each week with Jasper Mirabile Jr on LIVE! from Jasper’s Kitchen. She served as the former editor of 435 South Magazine and editor-in-chief of KC Magazine. Last year she was recognized for a cover feature on PTSD in The Kansas City Star by the Kansas City Press Club.
Winter Stern is a member of the American Food Journalists (AFJ), No Kid Hungry KC and Slow Food Kansas City. She served for two years as chair of one of KC’s most popular fundraisers, Giggle With Gilda, to benefit Gilda’s Club Kansas City. In addition, Winter Stern is a mentor for students interested in entering the competitive world of freelance writing.
