Craig Adcock, Belly Up BBQ, and Duane Daugherty, Mr. Doggity Foods, will handle duties this weekend at the smoker for Slow Food KC’s Harvest Dinner event. Read more about the event held this weekend on Sunday, October 16, and RSVP here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/203105.

Meanwhile, meet the men that will prepare the main dish at this potluck meal.

Craig Adcock of Belly Up BBQ, who also is the man behind the world’s best Jude’s Rum Cake (read more about them here), is dedicated to grilling, smoking meat, making delicious food, enjoying tasty wine (or juice as he refers to it), and having a good time with guests.

He quit the corporate life years ago to focus on his passion – cooking food to please people. He competes in barbecue competitions, grills and caters to clients in California’s wine country, the Midwest, or wherever duty calls. He also stays active in the local food scene by being involved with Culinary Cornerstones. Not only has he developed a fine rum cake, but he also introduced a line of custom BBQ seasonings and rubs for beef, chicken, seafood and rotisserie.

Next February, he will be a guest BBQ chef at Food Network’s Wine/Food event in Miami. Craig was interviewed by The Pitch about his cooking operation earlier this year.

And you can read about his rum cakes in the KC Star. Rum Cake Article – KC Star as well as an upcoming feature on holiday desserts in the December issue of KC Magazine written by Slow Food KC board member Pete Dulin.

So, we’re glad to have him on the scene for the Harvest Dinner.

Duane Daugherty of Mr. Doggity Foods is also an easy-going, fun-loving guy that knows his way around a smoker. His smoker on wheels is an impressive rig that will be in service for the Harvest Dinner.

Long time griller, barbeconnoisseur and “food craftsman,” Mr. Doggity is a certified BBQ judge.  He’s tasted and critiqued the best barbecue the world has to offer. Mr. Doggity’s traveled all 50 states, tasting, comparing, studying, tasting some more and living some amazing barbecue.  He’s taken all his experience, all the flavors of the fifty states, and created some amazing culinary excitement.

His BBQ sauce is rich and slightly sweet with a hint of spice and an herbal note that adds up to a complex, distinctive sauce. Highly recommended. You can buy his sauce here or look for some at the Harvest Dinner.

Here are a few photos of Duane and his smoker in action at the Slow Food KC Culinary Garage Sale.
